Language Lab Hygiene and Cleanliness Procedures and Protocols

We are excited to reopen and to welcome our clients and their families back to in-person speech and language services.  We have developed a comprehensive plan to ensure the safety of everyone who comes into the office.  Our guidelines are consistent with recommendations from the CDC, as well as the American Speech and Hearing Association.  We will update changes to our safety plan, if need be, and will alert our families if there is a change to our protocols.

First and foremost, if you or your child are in any way sick or displaying any symptoms, do not come in for your session.  Our office policy will allow for a last minute change to a virtual session if you, your child’s caregiver, or your child are unable to come into the office due to illness.

Office Hygiene:

Our therapists will be wiping down shared surfaces in the office between each client.  At the end of the day a thorough cleaning of the therapy rooms, common spaces and bathrooms will be completed.  We will have an outside professional cleaning service come to the office once per week to perform a deep clean.

We have moved the water cooler out of the waiting area for now, because we can not ensure the cleanliness of the hand-held dispenser.

It is mandatory that all children coming in for their sessions wash their hands prior to coming into the therapy rooms.  We will have children wash their hands upon completion of the session as well.

There will be wall-mounted hand sanitizers in the waiting area and in the common space between therapy rooms.

All toys and games that have been used during the course of a session will be wiped/washed down at the conclusion of the session, prior to the next child’s appointment.

Social Distancing:

Cloth face masks will not be worn during sessions as this would prevent a productive speech/language therapy environment.  The American Speech and Hearing Association approves of the use of clear face shields and partitions as a modification with low risk populations.

We will be updating and reevaluating our office safety practices frequently.  If at any time you have questions, feel free to contact your treating therapist.  We are hopeful that we will see everyone soon!
